Governor Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency in Kentucky due to severe weather and widespread flash flooding, with over 7 inches of rain reported in some areas. This flooding has led to multiple water rescues and at least four fatalities, including three in Madison County and one in Jackson County. Residents are advised to avoid driving after dark due to dangerous conditions. Five counties—Bullitt, Madison, Meade, Mercer, and Spencer—have issued their own emergency declarations, and emergency response teams are active across the state. The governor also activated Kentucky’s price gouging law to address excessive price increases during the emergency. For life-threatening situations, residents are urged to call 911, while non-urgent assistance should use the State Alert Point number.
