An unidentified Italian aristocrat has been accused of funding a twisted “human safari” murder spree during the Bosnian War in the 1990s. Allegedly from a wealthy Milanese family, he reportedly paid to join Sarajevo snipers, targeting civilians from the hills with Serb gunmen. According to the London Times, witnesses claim he boasted about his experiences during dinner conversations.
Italian investigators are looking into the case after the release of the 2022 documentary “Sarajevo Safari,” which exposed allegations of high society involvement in targeting innocents. Four suspected gunmen have already been questioned, and during a recent raid in Alessandria, police recovered a silencer.
The aristocrat allegedly admitted to his ex-partner that he traveled to Sarajevo to kill Muslims, with claims that hired snipers earned over $90,000 for their actions, targeting women and children for additional fees. Investigative writer Ezio Gavazzeni noted that affluent individuals from various Western countries participated in these activities, prompting magistrates across Europe to open investigations into their upper-class citizens.
