A shooting incident in Sandy, Ore., on Sunday night has resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries, including a police officer. Emergency services responded to reports of a domestic disturbance and shooting around 4 p.m. Residents were advised to stay indoors. By 9:30 p.m., authorities confirmed several deaths and that one officer, Garrett D. Thornton, was hospitalized after being shot.
The suspect, Brian Andrew Moore, born in 1987, has been charged with the murders of Jenna Mary Overson, Mary Beth Overson, and Cobin McClure. He also faces charges for injuring Officer Thornton and kidnapping two individuals as potential shields. The motive and relationships among the victims remain unclear.
Community members expressed shock at the violence in their typically quiet town, with local leaders urging support for those affected and cooperation with the ongoing investigation.
