A United Airlines flight from Chicago to Minneapolis was diverted to Madison, Wisconsin, after a passenger reportedly attempted to break into the cockpit multiple times. Law enforcement on board detained the disruptive passenger, who was escorted off the plane upon landing. The FBI and local authorities responded, but they have not disclosed the passenger’s identity or any charges filed.
Witness Mike Randle described the tense situation, noting that other passengers restrained the man after he approached the cockpit. Preceding the incident, flight attendants had noticed the passenger exhibiting erratic behavior, asking for a Russian speaker to help translate. The Boeing 737, carrying 147 passengers and six crew members, landed safely without any injuries.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) highlighted that this incident is part of a growing trend, with over 640 reports of disorderly conduct this year. The FAA investigates all such occurrences and can impose significant penalties for violations against crew members.
