Air New Zealand plans to resume long-haul flights from Christchurch, New Zealand, starting in October 2026. The airline will operate routes to Perth, Singapore, and Tokyo using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. These destinations were previously covered before the COVID-19 pandemic halted services.
The Christchurch to Singapore route will commence on October 28, followed by Tokyo flights on November 27 and Perth flights on November 30. Each route will have three flights per week. Air New Zealand has established a partnership with Christchurch Airport to promote growth and increase connectivity.
This expansion comes as the airline’s fleet of 787s returns to service, with expectations for additional route announcements in the future. The move aligns with Christchurch Airport’s goal to attract new international airline partners, enhancing the region’s long-haul flight options.
Air New Zealand had previously operated these routes before the pandemic and aims to capitalize on increasing demand for international travel.
