In Game 4 of Nebraska softball’s first-ever Lincoln Super Regional at Bowlin Stadium, a two-hour delay postponed the match until Friday, where they faced 13th-ranked Oklahoma State. The Huskers achieved a commanding 8-1 victory, setting the stage for a rematch on Saturday, May 23 at 4 PM CT on ESPN, with a chance to advance to the Women’s College World Series.
The game resumed from the bottom of the first inning, where Nebraska’s center fielder Hannah Cua was on first base. Designated player Hannah Kamenjindo hit a single, and catcher Jesse Farrell followed up with a three-run homer, giving the Huskers an early lead. Nebraska’s offense continued to thrive, with Farrell scoring multiple runs, while pitcher Jordy Frahm kept Oklahoma State’s offense in check, allowing only one run on five hits over seven innings.
Despite OSU’s efforts, including a solo home run from Carly Godwin in the sixth inning, Nebraska’s defense proved formidable. Oklahoma State struggled with their pitcher, All-American Ruby Maylan, who was replaced after two innings due to ineffective performance.
Head coach Kenny Gajewski noted that Maylan could rebound in the next game, emphasizing the challenge posed by the tenacious Huskers. The game highlighted the significance of pitching and defensive strategy, with Nebraska’s disciplined approach resulting in a solid lead.
