A new report indicates that Atlanta is performing better than many other U.S. host cities for the upcoming World Cup. Approximately half of the hotels surveyed reported booking rates meeting or exceeding expectations. About 213,000 hotel rooms in downtown Atlanta, including areas like Moxy Atlanta Downtown, Midtown, and Buckhead, are reserved for the tournament, spanning roughly 30 days.
The American Hotel and Lodging Association’s survey of 11 host cities revealed generally disappointing hotel booking forecasts, with 80% of respondents reporting lower-than-expected bookings. Despite this, Atlanta’s bookings stand out positively amidst a broader context of lower demand in many locations. Various factors contribute to Atlanta’s relative success, including ongoing strong demand and strategic planning by local hotels. The report hints at potential challenges and economic impacts, but Atlanta’s hotel market is currently thriving compared to other cities.
