Two Palestinians, including a 14-year-old boy, were killed by Israeli settlers near a school in al-Mughair, West Bank, amid rising violence against education. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported the victims as Aws al-Naasan and Jihad Abu Naim, with three others injured. Eyewitnesses indicated that settlers fired on students first and were later pursued by Israeli soldiers. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) responded by sending troops to the area, stating that a reservist involved in the shooting has been suspended pending investigation. Local officials emphasized the frequent attacks by settlers, describing the situation as an attempt to evict Palestinians from their homes.
The violence has been escalating, with human rights groups noting a surge in attacks against Palestinians. Other incidents reported include settlers destroying a school in Hamat al-Maleh and barricading routes to schools, affecting children’s access to education.
Statistics indicate that over 1,150 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank since October 7, 2023. Concerns are also raised about the lack of legal action against Israeli nationals involved in such incidents, highlighting the ongoing tensions and violence affecting Palestinian communities.
