The man who attacked a synagogue in Michigan, Ayman Mohammad Ghazali, is reported to be the brother of Ibrahim Ghazali, a Hezbollah commander killed in an Israeli airstrike on March 5. The Israeli military claims Ibrahim was involved in controlling weapons used against Israel. The airstrike also killed three of Ibrahim’s family members. Ayman, 41, allegedly carried out the synagogue attack in retaliation for his family’s death, using a vehicle and fireworks before engaging in a shootout with a security guard. He ultimately committed suicide when trapped in his car. The FBI is investigating the incident but hasn’t concluded it was an act of terrorism. Ayman immigrated to the U.S. in 2011 and became a citizen by 2016. The attack coincided with another shooting incident at Old Dominion University in Virginia.
