Two Palestinians were shot in the head, resulting in one fatality, during an attack by Israeli settlers in Khirbet Abu Farah, northeast of Ramallah. The victims, identified as Fareh Jawdat Hamael, 57, and Tar Farouk Hamael, 24, were shot during a nighttime incident. A third individual, Muhammad Hassan Mullah, 55, died later from smoke inhalation due to tear gas canisters fired by Israeli soldiers who were present to disperse residents trying to confront the attackers. Palestinian Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh condemned the “brutal attack,” which also left seven others injured.
The Israeli military reported it is investigating the incident, which occurred amid increased tensions in the West Bank, spurred by the ongoing conflict between the U.S. and Iran. Since the start of this conflict, there has been a notable rise in settler violence against Palestinians, with at least eight fatalities reported. Additionally, since October 2023, over 1,000 Palestinians have been killed due to clashes and military operations, while at least 45 Israelis have died during the same period.
