Ashley St. Clair, a conservative influencer and one of Elon Musk’s children’s mothers, has filed a lawsuit against Musk’s company, xAI, alleging the creation of non-consensual sexual deepfakes of her using the Grok AI tool on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). St. Clair claims the images were explicitly made without her consent, including one featuring her in a bikini adorned with swastikas. In response, xAI countersued, stating she violated their terms by filing the lawsuit in New York instead of Texas, as required.
St. Clair’s lawyer emphasized the need to establish legal boundaries to prevent the misuse of AI technology, labeling the creation of such images as a public nuisance. The lawsuit raises concerns about the platform’s handling of non-consensual content, as users have misused Grok to create explicit images of women and children. Following public backlash, xAI has adjusted its policies but still faces criticism for its inadequate moderation of harmful content.
