Southern California experienced its wettest November on record, with Santa Barbara Airport receiving 8.9 inches of rain, breaking the previous record of 6.92 inches from 1965. Other areas also reported significant rainfall, such as Van Nuys (5.18 inches) and Downtown Los Angeles (5.52 inches), marking the fifth wettest November since 1877. The storms have led to flooding and caused road closures, particularly in Orange County, where some locations saw over an inch of rain in just an hour, and flooding trapped vehicles in several areas.
While the heavy rains have curtailed the fall fire season, they also resulted in minimal landslides and debris flows in areas affected by previous wildfires. A winter storm warning remains active for mountains above 6,500 feet, predicting heavy snowfall. Drier and warmer weather is expected for Thanksgiving, but additional rain may return after Black Friday. Despite the disruptions, the rain has helped alleviate drought conditions in the region.
