January was a challenging month for many in the U.S. due to extreme weather, catastrophic fires, and significant airline tragedies. However, some noteworthy developments in the hotel industry took place.
In Houston, the Hotel Cent Augustine opened under Hyatt’s Bunkhouse Hotels, featuring 71 rooms and a bistro from chef Aaron Bradon. Meanwhile, Hilton’s expansion of its Los Angeles/Universal City hotel was approved, which will include an 18-story tower with 395 additional rooms, enhancing visitor options ahead of the 2028 LA Olympics.
Rosewood Amsterdam is set to open in summer 2023 in a historic 1665 building, offering 134 rooms and exclusive activities. In Texas, the Omni PGA Frisco Resort is launching a festival combining food, golf, and music from May 1-4, featuring celebrity chefs and golf stars. Lastly, IHG’s Delaware North announced a new resort near the Grand Canyon, where IHG ONE Rewards members can earn points during their stay.
