Vaccaro acknowledged it was a valuable experience for his family, despite the house being structurally sound at the time of demolition. Previously appraised at nearly $1.3 million, the house was never officially for sale, as the former owners were hesitant to sell knowing the risk of storm damage. Nantucket faces ongoing coastal erosion issues, prompting the town’s decision to prioritize safety.
