Dramatic footage shows Des Moines police confronting 43-year-old Bradley Ratkovich, who allegedly threatened another driver with a Glock 9mm handgun following a minor crash. The police received reports of the incident around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, with witnesses stating that Ratkovich pointed the weapon at an 18-year-old driver and his 16-year-old female passenger, even threatening to “shoot.”
After police arrived, an officer shouted for Ratkovich to drop the gun, which he complied with before being taken into custody without further incident. Ratkovich now faces multiple charges, including assault with a dangerous weapon and first-degree harassment.
His attorney claims Ratkovich acted in self-defense, asserting that he felt threatened after the other driver became aggressive and attempted to leave the scene without insurance. No shots were fired during the encounter, and traffic camera footage is awaited as part of the ongoing investigation. Ratkovich’s bail has been set at $12,000, with court appearances scheduled in the coming months.
