AdventHealth and Intermountain Health, two major players in Colorado’s healthcare market, have announced a joint venture to integrate their hospital services in the Denver area. The venture will merge AdventHealth’s five hospitals with Intermountain’s three, with AdventHealth managing Intermountain’s Good Samaritan, Lutheran, and Platte Valley hospitals, along with related emergency rooms and clinics.
Both CEOs expressed enthusiasm about enhancing patient care and access through this collaboration. However, details about the joint venture’s operations, potential name changes, staffing impacts, and technological integrations remain unclear.
This partnership arises during a tumultuous period for Colorado hospitals, characterized by financial pressures and recent separations among healthcare systems. AdventHealth previously split from CommonSpirit Health, while Intermountain faced layoffs after its contracts with Kaiser Permanente shifted to competitors.
Intermountain entered Colorado in 2022 through a merger, taking over five hospitals, though certain Catholic directives apply to only two of those facilities, which are not included in the new joint venture.
