A tour bus returning to New York City from Niagara Falls rolled over on a major highway in upstate New York, resulting in five fatalities and 24 injuries. The accident occurred near Pembroke, with the bus losing control for reasons still under investigation. Mechanical and operator failures have been ruled out. The bus carried 54 passengers, aged 1 to 74, with most being of Indian, Chinese, and Filipino nationalities.
While some injuries were serious, others were treated and released from local hospitals. Emergency services transported several patients via air. Following the incident, traffic was significantly disrupted on the New York State Thruway, prompting officials to advise avoidance of nearby roads. New York Governor Kathy Hochul described the incident as a “tragic tour bus accident,” affirming coordination with local authorities for rescue efforts.
