Guests aboard the Disney Adventure found their four-night cruise from Singapore canceled just hours after boarding due to a mechanical issue that the engineering team couldn’t resolve. After a day of waiting with little communication—even kitchen services were shut down—Disney announced the cancellation around 2 PM Singapore time.
Stranded in Singapore, guests were frustrated, having planned the trip for a long time and some having traveled internationally. Disney offered a full refund, a 50% discount on future sailings (with specific booking conditions), and complimentary hotel rooms and up to $500 for incidental expenses. The situation sparked disappointment and skepticism about the ship’s reliability, especially with many commenting on the adequacy of the compensation provided.
A Disney spokesperson stated they apologize to customers and are addressing individual needs, while the next scheduled sailing remains on track for May 11th. The Adventure, a new ship, serves as Disney’s flagship in the Asia-Pacific region.
