Meteorologist Keith Carson, after nearly 20 years in TV weather reporting, announced he’ll leave WCSH to work with Maine Conservation Voters on science and climate communications. His last broadcast will be Friday.
Fascinated by weather since childhood, Carson’s interests peaked during a significant snowstorm in 1993, which led to a love for snow and weather phenomena. He began his TV career in Plattsburgh, New York, eventually joining WCSH in 2010, after a stint at the Weather Channel. Key events he covered include Winter Storm Nemo, which brought a record snowfall to Portland, and a surprising freezing rainstorm that took even seasoned meteorologists by surprise.
Excited about his new role supporting climate communications, Carson believes his experience will help bridge diverse perspectives on conservation across Maine. In a farewell video, he thanked his family, colleagues, and viewers for their support, expressing gratitude for the acceptance of his unique style in broadcasting.
