Secretary Rubio, speaking in Bahrain, clarified the U.S. stance on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, stating that an alleged agreement with Russia was merely a proposal, emphasizing Washington’s commitment to facilitating an end to the ongoing war. He highlighted the significant casualties, particularly among Russian troops, reflecting the conflict’s devastating impact.
As the war escalates, Ukraine has launched extensive nighttime drone attacks on Russian-held regions, including Crimea. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported intercepting 660 Ukrainian drones, marking one of the largest attacks since the invasion began. Despite these challenges, Ukraine’s military also managed to intercept a substantial number of Russian drones and missiles.
In a sign of ongoing negotiations, Ukraine and Russia exchanged prisoners, with 160 individuals repatriated. President Zelenskiy expressed gratitude for the safe return of Ukrainian servicemen from various regions and reiterated efforts to bring all captives home.
