Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized the inevitability of victory over Ukraine, yet the annual Victory Day parade in Moscow’s Red Square will not feature military equipment for the first time in almost 20 years due to fears of a Ukrainian attack. Ukrainian drone squad leader Robert Brobdy, responsible for long-range strikes inside Russia, acknowledged that targeting Red Square symbolically would attract media attention but risk counterstrikes. Instead, he focuses on destroying Russian energy infrastructure and military targets to undermine Russia’s war efforts.
Brobdy’s elite unit, the 414th Brigade, has significantly challenged Russian defenses, causing heavy damage to crucial sites like oil refineries and military installations. He claims that drone strikes have strained Russia’s military capabilities, contributing to high casualties and affecting Russian recruitment.
Ukraine’s shifting military strategy positions it as a drone powerhouse, utilizing data analytics and advanced technologies to enhance its combat efficiency and record losses in real time. Brobdy argues that drone warfare has revolutionized modern combat, rendering traditional tactics like tank assaults obsolete.
Despite recent successes, including territorial gains and advances in drone technology, Brobdy remains cautious, noting that victory is not imminent. He warns that a pause in conflict could allow Putin to regroup and asserts that NATO needs to modernize its military approaches in light of Ukraine’s innovations.
