Investigators are examining the case of 9-year-old Melody Buzzard, who went missing during a trip with her mother, Ashley Buzzard. Authorities believe Ashley altered the rental car’s license plates to New York to evade detection. Security footage from October 7, showing the pair renting a white Chevrolet Malibu, captured Melody wearing a wig, possibly to conceal her identity.
Melody was last seen on October 9 while returning through Colorado, and investigators noted the car had been returned in California with its original license plates after being found with the fake ones. The police have struggled to contact Ashley, who has been uncooperative, and their home has been searched multiple times by law enforcement, including the FBI.
Melody is 4 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 60 pounds, and has curly brown hair and brown eyes. The sheriff’s office is urging anyone with information from October 9 or 10 to reach out. The investigation continues as authorities work with various police departments to piece together the timeline and whereabouts of the mother and daughter.
