A tragic fire at the Gabriel House Assisted Living Residence in Fall River, Massachusetts, resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries. Firefighters responded to the scene at about 9:30 PM on Sunday, finding severe flames and residents attempting to escape from windows. Several people were confirmed dead, and many others suffered injuries; five firefighters were treated for minor injuries.
The Fall River Police reported that their officers bravely entered the building to rescue around 12 residents. The fire escalated to five alarms and involved approximately 50 firefighters. Families faced chaos as they received frantic calls from loved ones trapped inside.
A Family Reunification Center has been established at the Chapel of St. Anne Hospital for those affected. Gabriel House, operated since 1999, provides support for seniors to live independently. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
