According to Bobby Nightengale of the Star Tribune, the Twins have placed center fielder Byron Buxton on a seven-day concussion-related injured list after he collided with shortstop Carlos Correa, who was also placed in concussion protocol. Outfielder Carson McCusker is expected to join the team in Milwaukee, although he is not currently on the 40-man roster. To add McCusker, a corresponding roster move will need to be made to replace Buxton.
Buxton has been a key player for the Twins, participating in 41 of 44 games this season and demonstrating both strong offensive production and elite defense. His absence will be felt, especially since the Twins had been fortunate with injuries until now.
McCusker, who has not yet made his MLB debut and has a notable minor league record, will likely help fill in the outfield alongside other players like Harrison Bader and Trevor Larnach. Both Bader and Larnach are performing well, but McCusker’s impressive minor league statistics suggest he could earn more playing time, particularly if he can outperform Keirsey, who has struggled this season.
