The Dallas Cowboys are looking for a new defensive coordinator for the fourth consecutive year following the departure of Matt Eberflus, who led the team to a record 511 points allowed during his single season.
Potential candidates include Raheem Morris, recently released by the Atlanta Falcons, who improved his team’s defense significantly during his tenure. Morris is a two-time Super Bowl champion and has a strong connection to Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
Another candidate is Jonathan Gannon, recently fired by the Arizona Cardinals after a challenging three-season stint. Gannon previously served as the Eagles’ defensive coordinator and played a key role in their Super Bowl run in 2022. He also has connections within the Cowboys’ coaching staff.
Both Morris and Gannon are still under contract but could be considered for the Dallas position as the team seeks continuity in its defensive strategy. The Cowboys plan to begin interviews for the position soon.
