Lauren Turner, a standout soccer player at California State University, Fullerton, died on November 7, 2025, after suffering severe head injuries from being hit by a box truck while riding an electric scooter on September 27. At just 19, she was remembered for her vibrant personality, humor, and uplifting spirit, serving as a source of encouragement to her teammates.
Turner was en route to a men’s soccer game with teammate Ashlyn Gwynn when the accident occurred. Gwynn also sustained serious injuries and was initially admitted to the ICU before being moved to a recovery unit.
Turner’s family shared their heartbreak on GoFundMe, emphasizing her impact on those around her and her deep faith. The driver of the truck remained at the scene and has not been arrested as investigations continue.
The Titan women’s soccer team honored Turner by wearing custom armbands and wristbands with her initials and number. A candlelight vigil is set to be held in her memory at the campus stadium.
