A second detainee, Miguel Ancer Garcia Hernandez, died after being removed from life support following a shooting at a Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility on September 24. The incident also claimed the life of Norlan Guzmán-Fuente, and another detainee, Jose Andres Bordanes Morina, was injured. The shooter, Joshua Yarn, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Garcia Hernandez’s wife expressed her devastation over his loss, highlighting their recent move to a new home and their hopes for a fifth child. In response to the tragedy, ICE extended condolences to the family and emphasized the dangers confronting law enforcement agents. The Mexican government is involved, working to support Garcia Hernandez’s mother and calling for an investigation into the events.
In light of the incident, ICE is enhancing security at its facilities, and operations at the Dallas center are set to resume soon.
