Disney is currently testing new trucks on the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Magic Kingdom, following a renovation that began in January. A yellow cart has been placed on a test truck to assess the ride’s movement, but testing in this area has not yet started as the cart remains stationary.
Significant structural work is ongoing, with visible gaps in rockwork and exposed steel. Scaffolding is present as new painting and protective coatings are applied. There are various test devices in place to ensure safety around the ride, including mechanisms that help avoid collisions with walls.
The Walt Disney World Railroad area, particularly Tumbleweed, is also undergoing renovations, with buildings like the Gold Dust Saloon being repainted from teal to light blue and new signs installed. The project is still in progress, with estimated completion possibly by April 2026, when Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is expected to reopen.
