Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall announced three new city flag designs that will be added in June, including designs featuring the Sego Lily, a Pride of Progress flag, and a Transgender flag. Governor Spencer noted concerns about the bill but allowed it to pass without his signature, suggesting lawmakers consider revisions. Salt Lake City’s leaders are navigating their next steps while continuing to support their established values amidst political backlash. City Council President Chris Wharton emphasized that these flags have historically represented the community and the city’s intent is to honor that tradition.
