A 46-year-old man accused of attempted murder was shot and killed by Simi Valley police while in custody at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks on Thursday. The incident occurred around 12:20 p.m. after the man had been hospitalized following an earlier assault on his wife, during which he allegedly stabbed her and then himself. The woman is expected to survive her injuries.
The police were monitoring the suspect when he required medical attention; however, details on what triggered the shooting during the medical evaluation are unclear. Fortunately, no officers were injured in the incident, and authorities assured the public that there was no ongoing threat. Neighbors expressed shock, describing the couple as kind and heartbroken over the situation.
