American Express has introduced a new concept called the “Sidecar by Centurion Lounge” at Las Vegas Airport (LAS), designed for passengers departing within 90 minutes. This smaller venue features a restaurant-style ambiance where food and drinks can be ordered via QR code. Amex plans to expand this concept to more airports, with Charlotte Airport (CLT) being the next candidate.
A City Council meeting on March 9, 2026, will discuss the approval of a 4,641-square-foot sidecar in CLT’s Concourse A as part of an expansion plan. If approved, Amex will sign a five-year lease at $200 per square foot, totaling nearly $1 million annually after annual increases.
Charlotte’s lounge facilities have historically been subpar, but enhancements are underway, including the recent opening of a new Admirals Club and future plans for a Capital One Lounge and an American Flagship Lounge. Overall, approval of the Sidecar concept at Charlotte would significantly improve the airport’s lounge offerings.
