In January, Nothing announced it would skip the flagship Phone 4 and focus on its mid-range models, leading to the launch of the Phone 4a and 4a Pro. The Phone 4a Pro showcases a significant design shift, moving from a translucent back to a metallic unibody available in black, silver, or pink. It features a larger and brighter glyph matrix interface, enhanced durability (IP65 water resistance), and is claimed to be the slimmest phone yet. The device boasts a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and 5000 nits peak brightness, alongside a 5,080mAh battery promising up to 17 hours of usage. Its camera setup includes a 50MP wide-angle lens and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 140x zoom, though it uses the less powerful Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip.
The Phone 4a also brings notable upgrades, maintaining the iconic translucent design in new colors and offering a similar camera system, including a 50MP lens that captures 64% more light. It features a smaller 6.78-inch AMOLED display at 120Hz and 4,500 nits peak brightness, alongside a Gorilla Glass 7i cover for added scratch resistance.
Both models run on Nothing OS 4.1, which introduces features like Essential Search and Nothing Playground, and promise three years of Android updates. Pre-orders for the Phone 4a began recently, with prices starting at 349 euros. The Phone 4a Pro will be available worldwide, with U.S. pre-orders starting March 13th, priced at $499 for 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, up to $599 for 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.
