Walt Disney World’s Frozen Ever After has received a significant upgrade, introducing new faces for the audio-animatronic figures of Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff, enhancing their realism and connection to the film. Ken Rich from Walt Disney Imagineering shared insights into the updates, which aim to make the figures appear more human-like. The attraction, which opened on June 21, 2016, was notable for pioneering all-electric audio-animatronics and 3D printing.
The upgrade draws inspiration from improvements made at Hong Kong Disneyland, allowing for faster and more efficient enhancements. This involved precise mechanical adjustments to match kinematics, updating show control processors overnight, and adjusting lighting to enhance visuals.
Rich highlighted the emotional depth added to the characters, with 3D printed eyes and more expressive faces. The overall experience is designed to feel as cinematic as the original film. While Frozen Ever After has enjoyed long wait times, these enhancements reflect a commitment to ongoing improvements and guest experience.
Frozen Ever After is now operational with these upgrades, and guests are encouraged to revisit to enjoy the new features, including the charming puffin reminiscent of the former Maelstrom attraction.
