The white van, having its rear window broken by protestors, reversed into the crowd before speeding away. Hartford police indicated the vehicle was driven by an ICE or Federal Protective Services officer, with no arrests made. Attendees expressed shock at the events, emphasizing the need for peaceful expression. Civil rights leaders spoke at the vigil, condemning ICE’s actions and vowing to continue protesting.
Senator Matt Lesser criticized the violence and hinted at pursuing legislation to protect citizens’ rights. Many attendees were unaware of the disturbances, focusing instead on honoring Goode’s memory.
