Six Flags Over Texas has reached a key milestone in the construction of its upcoming dive coaster, Tormenta. The final section of the lift hill, which stands at 309 feet, was installed recently. Tormenta will be the tallest dive coaster in the world at this height, featuring a drop at a 95-degree angle, and will set six world records, including the tallest coaster loop at 179 feet and the fastest dive coaster at 137 mph.
The coaster replaces former rides in the park’s Spanish section, now revamped as Rancho de la Tormenta. Built by Fort Worth’s H3 Construction and designed by Bolliger & Mabillard, Tormenta is part of a broader $1 billion upgrade to Six Flags properties, coinciding with the park’s 65th anniversary and scheduled to open in 2026. The coaster also boasts the longest track at 4,199 feet and the tallest Immelmann inversion at 218 feet. While the exact cost is undisclosed, it has been noted as the largest single investment in the park’s history.
