Lando Norris secured pole position for the Las Vegas Grand Prix by clocking a time of 1:47.934, nearly three-tenths ahead of Max Verstappen. This marks Norris’ third consecutive pole. The qualifying session took place in challenging wet conditions, with Carlos Sainz finishing third and title rival Oscar Piastri ending up in fifth after a tough final lap.
Williams’ Sainz excelled, outperforming George Russell, who had led the early qualifying sessions but ended fourth. Liam Lawson’s second Racing Bulls car finished sixth, while Fernando Alonso, Isaac Hajjar, Charles Leclerc, and Pierre Gasly completed the top ten.
Alex Albon crashed during Q1, damaging his car and finishing last, while Lewis Hamilton struggled with tire issues and also ended at the bottom of the standings.
Throughout Q1 and Q2, drivers grappled with the challenging wet track, leading to numerous incidents, including Albon’s crash and Hamilton’s difficulties.
In Q3, with slightly improved conditions, Norris secured his pole against strong competition. He stated that the session was very stressful, highlighting the slippery conditions and his close call with the barriers. The race is set to begin on Sunday at 2000 local time.
