YouTube TV is facing another potential blackout as Disney announced it will begin informing subscribers about the risk of losing access to its channels, including ABC and ESPN, if a new distribution deal isn’t reached by Oct. 30. Disney criticized Google for allegedly abusing its position to the detriment of customers. YouTube TV, which has about 10 million subscribers, is looking for a deal that avoids raising prices for its customers while negotiating terms for Disney programming. They stated that Disney’s financial demands could lead to higher rates and reduced options, potentially resulting in the removal of Disney content. YouTube TV also wants to incorporate Disney’s streaming services into its platform but has not received a favorable response from Disney. Tensions heightened when YouTube recently fired a former Disney executive, leading to a breach of contract lawsuit.
