In southern Gaza, an Israeli strike on Nasser Hospital killed four journalists, including 33-year-old Mariam Daga, a freelancer for the Associated Press. Health officials reported that the attack left 19 people dead, with Daga often working on stories about doctors struggling to save children from starvation. The Committee to Protect Journalists noted the ongoing conflict has made it one of the deadliest for media workers, with 192 journalists killed in Gaza compared to 18 in Ukraine.

Al Jazeera confirmed another victim, Mohammed Salam, while two other photographers were also affected. Israeli forces stated they would investigate the incident, emphasizing their intent not to target journalists. Thibaut Bruttin from Reporters Without Borders condemned the attacks on press freedom and highlighted the dangers journalists face in Gaza.

International media coverage is largely contingent upon local journalists, as Israel has restricted access for foreign reporters. Many journalists in Gaza struggle to meet basic needs amid the ongoing conflict, reflecting the broader humanitarian crisis. Daga shared a personal post shortly before her death, capturing the peril faced by journalists in the region.
