Conor McGregor has lost a civil court appeal regarding the ruling that he sexually assaulted Nikita Hand in a Dublin hotel in 2018. In November, McGregor was ordered to pay £206,000 in damages. He appealed the decision, arguing that his police interview responses should not have been presented at trial and that legal terminology used was misleading. However, three senior judges in the Dublin Court of Appeals dismissed his appeal, stating that McGregor’s team failed to demonstrate any risk of unfair trial. McGregor was not present for the ruling, while Hand attended with supporters.
After the ruling, Hand expressed gratitude for the support she received during the lawsuit and remarked on the emotional toll of the appeal. McGregor’s appeal raised questions about the wording of the jury’s questions and the handling of his police interview, where he reportedly answered “no comments” nearly 100 times. He also tried to introduce new evidence from former neighbors that he claimed could suggest alternative explanations for Hand’s injuries, but this was found unconvincing by the court.
Overall, the appeal was dismissed unanimously, and the judges have awarded Hand costs related to the appeal.
