David Ellison’s Skydance has gained significant control over Paramount Global, following a smooth federal approval process. As they establish leadership, there are ongoing changes, with some executives leaving while CBS’s George Cheeks remains.
Under Brian Robbins, who became president of Paramount Pictures in 2021, the studio has seen a resurgence in original films, including the upcoming reboot of “The Naked Gun” and new projects like “Roofman” and “Regret.” The studio aims for a strong Q4 with multiple family-friendly releases.
Looking ahead to 2026, Paramount has several anticipated projects, including “Scream 7,” a new “Scary Movies” entry, and films based on popular franchises like “Sonic the Hedgehog” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” Additionally, they’re developing major franchises like “Transformers” and “Star Trek.”
In TV, Ellison is prioritizing technological advancements across streaming and linear networks, emphasizing successful shows on CBS and Paramount+. Key franchises like “Yellowstone” are expanding, while Nickelodeon remains a powerhouse with content like “SpongeBob SquarePants.” Showtime continues to offer prestige dramas, and Comedy Central is reviving popular shows.
Skydance is set to fully take over Paramount Global on August 7.
