Bungie has addressed accusations from the Destiny 2 community regarding "stealthnerfs" in its latest expansion, The Edge of Fate, set to launch on July 19, 2025. This expansion marks a significant turning point for the game, introducing major changes to user interface, loot systems, and gameplay balance, impacting various popular exotic armor and weapons.
Despite initial complaints about undocumented balance changes, Destiny 2’s Global Community Lead, Dylan "DMG04" Gafner, clarified that Bungie does not engage in stealth nerfs as a policy. He acknowledged some changes were not fully documented and apologized to the community for any confusion. Gafner emphasized the importance of transparent communication and mentioned that Edge of Fate features one of the longest patch notes Bungie has ever created.
Though many players appreciated the clarity, concerns remain regarding a lack of a clear timeline for follow-up details. This uncertainty may affect players’ use of their preferred builds and weapons, raising worries about the potential impact on player retention in Destiny 2 as it enters a new era with this expansion.
