A group of major healthcare providers is suing Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. after he removed the Covid-19 vaccine from the recommended schedule for healthy children and pregnant women in late May. The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court, claims this decision is “arbitrary” and violates federal laws governing vaccine recommendations. The plaintiffs include prominent organizations like the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Susan Cresley, president of the American Academy of Pediatrics, expressed concerns that the health of all children is at risk due to these changes. Affected individuals, including a pregnant doctor referred to as “Jane Doe,” worry about access to the vaccine. The lawsuit also points to Kennedy’s actions since taking office, such as removing experts from the Federal Vaccine Advisory Committee.
Legal experts assert that the case hinges on whether Kennedy has violated administrative procedures related to vaccine recommendations. They argue the complaint emphasizes a lack of adherence to proper processes under the Administrative Procedure Act.
