In 2028, Charleston will welcome significant luxury developments, including the Four Seasons Resort and the Limelight Hotel from Aspen Hospitality. The Limelight Hotel will feature 50 accommodations, a restaurant, bar, rooftop pool, meeting spaces, and private properties, utilizing parts of a $204.5 million real estate transaction from 2019. The hotel will incorporate buildings on King Street and Society Street, with renovations underway to enhance the first-floor retail space.
Additionally, improvements are planned for the 84 Association building, which will also host a bar and restaurant, situated in the hotel’s back area. The project still needs approval from city review boards.
Aspen Hospitality’s CEO, Jeff Toscano, highlighted Charleston’s rich history and vibrant art and culinary scene as perfect for attracting their target guests. The Limelight Hotel will be the chain’s first East Coast location and the seventh overall, which traditionally centers around Colorado and California.
In other local news, Charleston International Airport anticipates a busy July 4 holiday weekend, advising travelers to arrive early and check for prohibited items. The airport also plans to break ground on a $90 million Westgate terminal expansion to accommodate higher traffic, including international flights.
Lastly, Charlestowne Hotels, based in Mount Pleasant, is expanding its portfolio with the acquisition of the 106-room Hotel Nell in Washington, DC, expanding its footprint in secondary markets while managing around 90 properties across the U.S.
