Shashi Tharoor, leading an all-party delegation, addressed India’s position on state-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan during a media event in New York. He emphasized that India is not seeking war but noted that Pakistan persists with cross-border terrorism to achieve its objectives, which he called unacceptable.
The delegation, including MPs from various parties, visited the 9/11 memorial to express solidarity with terrorism victims, signifying the shared struggle against terrorism faced by both India and the US. Tharoor highlighted recent terrorist attacks in India, specifically mentioning a deadly incident in Pahargam, Kashmir, where a group named the Resistance Front, linked to the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility. He criticized Pakistan for denying its involvement and for omitting references to the group in UN discussions.
The delegation’s next stops include Panama, Guyana, Brazil, and Colombia.
