A woman from Salt Lake County, known as Jane Doe AG, has filed a civil lawsuit against Brigham Young University’s quarterback Jake Retzlaff, accusing him of sexually assaulting her in November 2023. The lawsuit claims that after connecting on social media, Retzlaff assaulted her at his home following a gathering with friends. She alleges that despite her attempts to refuse, he forced her into sexual acts and did not stop when she said “no.”
The woman reported the incident to the police and underwent a rape kit test but initially withheld Retzlaff’s name out of fear. She has since accused the Provo police of discouraging her from pursuing charges. Retzlaff’s lawyer has stated that he is a “nice young man” and prefers to navigate this matter through the judicial system. BYU acknowledged the lawsuit, emphasizing their seriousness toward such allegations but refrained from providing further comments due to privacy regulations.
Retzlaff, who transferred to BYU from Riverside City College and became the starting quarterback, has garnered significant attention for his performance on the team.
