This support includes the transfer of missiles, artillery, and ammunition, with specific military equipment such as short-range ballistic missiles and rocket launchers being sent. Altogether, North Korea has contributed approximately 11,000 military personnel to this conflict since its inception, with a significant number reportedly killed or wounded due to difficulties adapting to modern warfare tactics.
The report follows a meeting in Pyongyang between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and Russian security officials, where Kim reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Russia’s military efforts. Russian officials also mentioned the possibility of a visit by Kim to Moscow.
Amidst these developments, Kim has been focusing on enhancing North Korea’s military capabilities, particularly in drone technology. He recently oversaw tests of new reconnaissance and attack drones, which he advocated for increased production. North Korea’s state media showcased these developments, including drones that reportedly have advanced tracking and attack capabilities, implying a potential threat to regional stability.
Experts raise concerns that North Korea’s military support for Russia might lead to reciprocal exchanges of military technology, which could enhance North Korea’s own military capabilities, especially in drones and nuclear weapons.
