A mass shooting occurred at Risbergska School in Orebro, Sweden, on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of 10 individuals, including both Syrians and Bosnians. The attacker, identified as 35-year-old Rickard Anderson, was found dead at the scene with four legally registered firearms. Eyewitnesses described the chaotic scene as an “Inferno,” filled with dead bodies, screams, and thick smoke. The police confirmed various nationalities among the victims but have yet to release detailed information.
Among the victims was Salim Iskef, a 29-year-old Syrian Christian who had fled the war in Syria and was set to marry soon. His death has deeply affected his fiancée, who is struggling with the loss. The Bosnian Embassy reported that one Bosnian citizen was killed, while another was injured.
The police reported they received the first alarm at 12:33 PM, with officers quickly arriving at the scene. They initially found no evidence of a bomb explosion but encountered thick smoke. Police Chief Lars Wylen stated that 130 officers eventually responded to the situation. Anderson reportedly committed suicide, and the police are investigating his motivations, which do not appear to be ideologically driven at this time.
Despite the tragic incident, community tensions are rising, with fears of racial elements in the attack. Some witnesses heard shouts of “Get off from Europe!” during the chaos. Authorities have been cautious in releasing information and confirming details about the suspect and his motives.
