Max Verstappen of Red Bull topped the second practice for the Mexico City Grand Prix, clocking a lap time of 1:17.392, ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli. The session, held in warm, dry conditions, saw all 20 cars hit the track shortly after green light, with most starting on medium tires.
Antonelli faced early issues but managed to continue, while teammate George Russell had a brief off-track moment. Leclerc initially led the session but was ultimately outpaced by Verstappen. Improvements came throughout the session, with Antonelli eventually securing third, while Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton rounded out the top five.
Verstappen’s performance solidified his lead despite some grip challenges, as various drivers struggled with their setups. The session was busy, with multiple close times. Following the practice, teams began evaluating data in preparation for FP3 and qualifying the next day.
