Bethesda Game Studios head Todd Howard has clarified that the upcoming Starfield update, which fans have speculated about for a year, is “not Starfield 2.0.” During a recent podcast, he indicated that while there are significant updates planned, they will not fundamentally change the game for those who didn’t connect with it initially. Howard reassured listeners that players who enjoyed Starfield will appreciate the new content, which includes innovative gameplay mechanics.
He confirmed that while this update is coming soon, it won’t be the final one, as Bethesda intends to continue supporting Starfield. Despite mixed reviews, Starfield has maintained a strong player base, described by Howard as “Game Pass’ time beast.”
The studio is also focusing on the next Elder Scrolls game, which Howard says will return to a classic gaming style, in contrast to the more experimental approaches of previous titles like Fallout 76 and Starfield.
