In January, the Ukrainian Armed Forces conducted long-range attacks on missile preparation hangars at Russia’s Kapustin Yar test range, causing significant damage and prompting evacuations. The operations utilized Ukrainian-made FP-5 Flamingo subsonic cruise missiles, which have a range of 3,000 kilometers. The Special Operations Forces (SSO) confirmed their involvement, detailing collaborative efforts with the Russian rebel group Thornaya Iskra for intelligence support. The Kapustin Yar site, a key location for testing Russia’s strategic weapons, has previously been used to launch attacks against Ukraine, including the Oreshnik missile system.
Additionally, recent disruptions in communication arose when Musk’s Starlink services were shut down for Russian military forces, affecting their digital operations in Ukraine.
